1990-2010
Natal Nomads came to fruition at Rally Natal at Midmar in 1998.
Mike Courtis, Jimmy Hendriks and Arie Haage had spent many hours discussing the pro’s and con’s of smaller regions. At the time ,
about 100 caravans attended rallies.
Foxy, who was National Councilor, was approached for his guidance,
and so began the task of splitting a Region. THE ad-hoc Committee
was elected with Mike Courtis at the helm, Jimmy Hendriks as vice,
Arie and Rosemary as Rally Master and Treasurer, Brian and Ros Carter
as Scribe and Secretary respectively, and Derek de Beer as Smous.
After we had received our Charter in Bloemfontein in March 1990,
Norman Edwards was co-opted on to the ad-hoc committee as PRO.
The Chairmen who followed Mike were Arie Haage, Tommy Thompson,
Derek de Beer, Fred Meijer, Les Lavery, Frank Ellison, Bennie Koekemoer
and currently, Arie Haage.
Five families who were at our Inaugural Rally in March 1990, are still members and are with us this weekend, thank you for your loyalty to NOMADS.
We, as Nomads, look forward to another 20 years of caravanning together.
